Labour migration in Germany and attacks on migrant livelihoods
During the era of systematic labour migration, more than five million people from Southern Europe, North Africa and South Korea – or, in the case of East Germany, from within the ‘socialist brotherhood’ – came to Germany. Since their arrival, their claim to a better life has been systematically jeopardized and threatened by racialized violence – violence that the migrants never ceased to resist.
